Pimples are not pretty, and no matter where they appear, they are a nuisance. While it’s bad getting pimples on your face, it’s even worse getting one or two on your lips. Cheer up though; there are a couple of ways you can cover them up!
I’ve had a pimple on my upper lips once, and it was painful. Enjoying a good meal or drink was nearly impossible. The toughest part? I wanted to spend my entire time indoors. I didn’t want anyone looking at it and assuming it was a cold sore or a sexual infection of some kind.
Honestly, I did consider a sexual infection for a moment, but since I take really good care of myself, there was no need to panic about the pimple’s origins. I talked to my doctor and found out it was just a reaction to an ingredient in one of my lip products (take care when picking your products!)
Since that area on my lips had some clogged pores, there was nothing much I could do about it, except wait. I couldn’t stay indoors forever, so I had to find ways to cover up the ghastly little monstrosity.
No amount or color of lipstick or lip gloss could cover the bump that was very visible, so I had to come up with a few tricks to minimize the size and appearance of the pimple. I had to keep it natural and safe to prevent aggravating the pimple further.
Natural Remedies For Lip Pimples
Cold Compress
Ice will constrict the oil glands in your lips, flushing out any bacteria and extra oil. It also reduces swelling. Don’t forget to wrap the ice up with a cloth or napkin before applying it on your lip.
Benzoyl Peroxide Gel
Make sure you get the milder variety of this astringent since lips are soft and delicate. Benzoyl Peroxide will help eliminate any fungus and bacteria lurking in your lips. After cleaning the pimpled area with a mild cleanser and patting it dry, apply a tiny amount on the pimple and around it. Leave for as long as requested.
The benzo may cause some irritation for some weeks. Other natural astringents include green tea and tomato, which you can instead of the gel.
Lemon Juice
From freshly squeezed lemons, if I may add. The bottled variety may contain chemicals that may irritate the pimple further. Use a cotton swab to dab some of the lemon juice on your lip and leave it on.
If you have sensitive skin, dilute the lemon juice with some water first. You can do this three times a day.
Turmeric
You only need a little turmeric powder to make a paste when you mix it with some water. Apply this paste on your pimple and go on with your chores. When done, rinse it off with clean water.
Turmeric helps fight bacteria while healing you fast, without leaving a scar.
Conclusion
There are many other ways to minimize the appearance of that pimple on your lip so you can cover it up, but it is of no use if you don’t prevent future breakouts on your lips. Observe hygiene with your mouth, do a gentle lip scrub once in a while, and avoid lip products that are not good for you!
